Valentines Day is just around the corner. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, with many choosing to avoid the rather commercial day that it has become, however for those of you who are still romantics a heart, nothing says ‘Be My Valentine’ like a handmade gift.
Below are some of my favourite handmade gift ideas from around the internet with tutorials to get you on track to creating your own something special for that someone special this Valentines Day:
Bake it then Frame it – Bake a special recipe and then display it on a photo frame with the recipe inside (or you could put a cute picture of you and your love).
Kitchen Chalkboard – For the love who loves to be organised, how about a kitchen chalkboard made from a clipboard. How quick and easy is that. And you could theme it around anything really. Love notes maybe?
Etched Utensils – Great for the love who loves to cook. Simple and styles, and fingers crossed you may even know someone who owns an etching tool so you don’t have to buy one.
Lawn Games – For the fun at heart, this one links to lots of lawn game tutorials. How awesome it would be to give the gift of fun over and over again.
Ipad Cover & Stand – Let’s face it, we’re almost all techno junkies today so this is a great DIY functional gift.
Date Jar – This one doesn’t have a tutorial but it would be pretty easy to write a whole lot of date ideas on some paddle pop sticks and put them in a pretty jar.
Wood Coasters – These would look great in a bar or out on the back patio. Very cool.
Photo Collage – How about a wooden word collage covered in photos of you and your love. Awww.
52 Ways – A pack of cards and 52 different ways I love you. There are a whole lot of other cool valentines tutorials on this page too.
Open When Envelopes – What a sweet idea, and especially great if you are on a super low budget for Valentines Day.
Year of Dates – Similar to the date jar but for those of you with a higher budget. What a fun idea.
Night In Basket – This one is labelled a Christmas basket but seriously, how great would this be to avoid the Valentines Day craziness of getting a reservation and spending a fortune out. Have a romantic night in instead.
Love Beer Labels – Make your own personalised beer labels full of messages of love.
Love Message Board – I really love this one for all special occasions. A nice reminder to leave each other special love notes any day of the year, not just on Valentines Day.
Sharpie Mug – Imagine a daily reminder of you when your love goes to have their morning coffee.
So there you have it… some awesomely romantic DIY Valentine gift ideas for you to make for your love. Keep it sweet and simple instead of worrying about the expensive event it is marketed as. A little excuse for romance is great all year round. I also have some DIY Christmas ideas that would also work for other occasions through the year. Plus you can find these ideas and plenty more on my DIY Gift Ideas board on Pinterest.
Do you celebrate Valentines Day? Or are you romantic all year around?
